Py4AI Workshop Series (May 18th – June 22nd)
If you are currently conducting a research project or contemplating an AI research project on HiperGator, this seminar series is for you! Unlike a traditional for-credit class, you take full control of your Python learning in this seminar series. You will start by creating and then executing a custom learning plan, tailored to your background, schedule, and research interests. Select from multiple Python learning modules, including some which feature the latest Nvidia technology. But have no fear! You are not alone on this learning journey but will benefit from the mentorship of a knowledgeable (accessible) instructor as well as the camaraderie of fellow researchers.
- You will devote a couple hours each week to asynchronous learning activities, with at least one weekly check-in required.
- The instructor will offer weekly office hours as well as individual consultations.
- This cohort is limited to 25 students so sign up today
Profiling and Optimizing Deep Neural Networks with DLProf: Tuesday, May 18 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Software profiling is key to achieve the best performance on a system. It is important to understand CPU, GPU, and memory bottlenecks of your deep learning application executions, which could slow down the training or inference. Nvidia Deep Learning Profiler (DLProf) is a tool for profiling deep learning models to help researchers understand and improve performance of the models.

NVIDIA DLI Live Event: Fundamentals of Accelerated Computing with CUDA Python: Thursday, May 20 9:00 am – 4:30 pm
In partnership with NVIDIA, UF is offering another workshop to support applications of artificial intelligence throughout the university. The workshop will be led by NVIDIA trainers and feature a hands-on approach to learning how to leverage AI and accelerated computing tools. The workshop Fundamentals of Accelerated Computing with CUDA Python explores how to use Numba—the just-in-time, type-specializing Python function compiler—to accelerate Python programs to run on massively parallel NVIDIA GPUs. The workshop has a registration limit and requires a registration fee. Find an overview of the workshop, participant prerequisites and registration form via the link below:
- Date: Thursday, May 20, 2021, 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Birds-of-a-Feather: AI @ RC for SSERCA and Florida Institutions: Tuesday, May 15 noon – 1:00 pm
This is a repeat of the March 15th event that was held for UF researchers. The focus of this event is for researchers outside of UF.
The BOF will start with UF RC staff introducing AI resources and services available on HiPerGator. There will also be time for attendees to ask questions and share their ideas on using HiPerGator for their AI research. The discussion topics for this BOF include:
- Hardware resources for AI and resource allocations
- Software resources
- AI Training
- AI Consulting
- Date: Tuesday, May
