Description
SAOImage DS9 is an astronomical imaging and data visualization application. DS9 supports FITS images and binary tables, multiple frame buffers, region manipulation, and many scale algorithms and colormaps. It provides for easy communication with external analysis tasks and is highly configurable and extensible via XPA and SAMP.
Environment Modules
Run module spider DS9 to find out what environment modules are available for this application.
System Variables
- HPC_DS9_DIR - installation directory
- HPC_DS9_BIN - executable directory

This is a GUI software. Follow the instructions at https://wiki.rc.ufl.edu/doc/GUI_Programs
Basic usage:
module load gui launch_gui_session --module saoimageds9 -e ds9
Connect with xpra locally using the xpra command
xpra attach ssh:jdoe@i111a-s222.rc.ufl.edu:3713
