Description
Maxima is a computer algebra system comparable to commercial systems like Mathematica and Maple. It emphasizes symbolic mathematical computation: algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and much more.
Environment Modules
Run module spider maxima to find out what environment modules are available for this application.
System Variables
- HPC_MAXIMA_DIR - installation directory
- HPC_MAXIMA_BIN - executable directory

This is a GUI software. Follow the instructions at https://wiki.rc.ufl.edu/doc/GUI_Programs
Basic usage:
module load gui launch_gui_session --module maxima -e xmaxima
Connect with xpra locally using the xpra command
xpra attach ssh:jdoe@i111a-s222.rc.ufl.edu
