HiPerGator Back in Production

HiPerGator is back in production with a refreshed and expanded Orange filesystem and expanded Blue filesystem. We appreciate your patience as we continue to grow the resources available to the Research Computing community.

Fall 2021 Training

The Research Computing Fall Training Schedule is below. HiPerGator training sessions will be held on most Thursdays from 10:40 to noon. This semester, we plan to offer both in-person (in the UFII Seminar Room, CISE E252) and Zoom options (see registration instructions below). Please register by 9:00am the day of the training to receive the Zoom link. The sessions will be recorded and posted on the Pre-recorded training page.

Registration instructions

For GatorLink account holders

• Click the registration link for the session you wish to attend.
• Click the Register button
• Click the Add button
• There are 2 “activities” associated with each session:
  • “Join in Person”, is the in-person option, limited to 30 people due to room capacity
  • “Join via Zoom”, is the online training.
• Click the Add button for the “activity” for the format you wish to attend.
• If the in-person session is full, we do not have additional seating in the room, please register for and attend the Zoom session.

For Non-GatorLink account holders

• If you do not have a GatorLink account, please register for the Zoom session(s) using this form.

Practicum AI - Building AI Knowledge

The UF Research Computing training staff are excited to announce the first iteration of our new training program, Practicum AI.

This program is a series of hands-on learning experiences designed to teach learners the coding skills and conceptual AI understanding needed to apply AI methods. The program is designed with a core set of modules and specializations in particular types of AI methods. The goal for future iterations is to make these available online, but this fall, we will offer a group of 25 learners the opportunity to participate in the program as we learn where our content needs refinement and prepare for a formal launch in the spring. Our expectation is that these learners will participate in the majority of the weekly sessions and provide feedback. Additional work will be needed outside of classes to prepare and complete the exercises. Practicum AI will include an introductory Python module, but for this iteration, learners are expected to have a basic proficiency in Python. We will limit enrollment to 25 students based on application order, commitment to attend the majority of the sessions, qualifications and diversity considerations. If there are still spots available for individual sessions, we will open those to general registration starting September 10th.

Practicum AI Fall 2021 Schedule

After the initial session on 9/7, sessions will be in the UF Informatics Institute Seminar room on Tuesdays from 10:40 to noon. Registrants can also participate via Zoom.

Fall 2021 HiPerGator Symposium: October 21, 2021 9:00-2:00

Once again, UF Research Computing will be hosting the Fall HiPerGator Symposium featuring lightning talks and posters from graduate students and postdocs. Registration will be available soon with abstract submissions due September 15th. Research Computing staff will review the abstracts and select some for 10-minutes lightning talks if the presenter indicates a willingness in presenting a talk on the registration form.
